Moss returns to Minnesota

Who is happy right now? Brett Favre?!?

Details of trade:

Vikings send a reported 2011, third round draft pick for Moss.

Interesting trade that I think New England will actually come out the winner of this in the long term. Right now it doesn't make a whole lot of sense on the surface why the Pats would deal him. Moss is still a viable player, but for how much longer? He can still stretch a defense and paired with Sidney Rice-when he returns from hip surgery- and Percy Harvin along with Schiancoe will give Favre plenty of passing options, but this looks like a last attempt to get the Vikes to the Super Bowl this year and will stunt their long term growth.

Good thing for Fantasy owners is that Moss and Favre's stock just went up.

Man a 3rd round pick? Minnesota must be desperate... guess they couldn't wait until Vincent Jackson's suspension is up!

The thing I don't get is that the Vikes could be a very good team for a very long time. They have some nice young offensive weapons, a great D-line, good secondary etc. That third round pick could have been used to pick the QB that will lead them when Brett finally hangs it up. Short-term good and desperate. Long-term doesn't make much sense.

True, Randy Moss does have another couple of good seasons left though, and finding a replacement through free agency or a trade shouldn't be too hard. Will they have a Drew Brees/Peyton Manning/Aaron Rodgers? No, but hopefully they'll have better than Tavaris Jackson. Some Quarterbacks (Brett Favre) make their wide receivers better, and some wide receivers make their quarterbacks better. Next year in Minnesota it will have to be the latter.
